Objective
After completing the course, the student will be able to carry out practices of game education in all youth work-related game activities guided by principles of game literacy. The student will also be able to critically evaluate themselves as game educators and their own relation to both gaming and game culture. The student will know how to justify the need for game education for example in terms of the meaning of game culture for young people. The student understands the central contents of game literacy and grasps its role in guiding game education. – The student learns what the key professional competencies of youth work-related game acitivities are and what they mean in terms of the current topics of youth work such as e-sports and age restrictions. The course prepares the student for verbalizing their work especially from the viewpoints of work community competence and supporting collaborative actions. -The student understands the factors restricting equality in game culture as well as their background especially from the standpoints of gender equality and learning technical skills. The course prepares the student to promote equality in all youth work-related game activities.
Content
The course will familiarize the student with concepts such as game education and game literacy. Young people’s gaming will also be looked at from the standpoint of equality.
