Objective
Students
- Familiarize themselves with youth work, e.g., in a municipality or an NGO.
- Can encounter young people in an encouraging manner and perform their duties professionally.
- Understand the educational nature of youth work.
- Recognize their own strengths and development need as youth work professionals.
Content
The course is an advanced practical training period of the second level. The training period is completed as a work placement within the field. A report is produced according to the instructions in the Handbook for practical training. The theme of the practical training period is developing an educational approach in open youth work. Possible workplaces for this training period are, e.g., youth facilities, camps, schools, educational institutions, youth cafés, youth cultural centres, youth gaming facilities and youth sports facilities. Students’ duties include reflecting on their own professional growth towards a youth work professional. Instead of a work placement, it is possible to complete this practical training period as courses relevant to the theme.
