Objective

On successful completion of this course, students will be able to
• Examine professional and work environments from the pedagogical perspective
• Understand the perspectives of experiential learning and adventure education in pedagogical development work
• Critically examine current research and discussions around learning, competence, development, and growth
• Develop pedagogical expertise, actions, activities, practices and communities in different environments
• Develop competence in reflection

Teaching methods

Online course including webinars, individual and/or group assignments, a learning/development task, and independent studying.

Further information

The course provides the learners with the opportunity to deepen their knowledge of the possibilities and relevance of using experiential learning and adventure education in different professional and working life environments. During the course, the participants will develop their competence in pedagogical development work and reflection, and they will learn about current research and discussions on learning, competence, development, and growth.

The course is well-suited for students and professionals in the fields or education and schooling, youth work, NGO work, sports and physical education, rehabilitation, and social work. The master's level course don’t require a community educator degree or studies of adventure education, even though this background might prove useful. A bachelor’s degree from one of the aforementioned fields is recommended but not obligatory.

The online course will be organized in English which enables an international learning environment. The participants of the course should be willing to listen, read, write and speak English.
