Students

- Are able to lead and manage themselves and take responsibility for their studies and actions.
- Possess competencies for digital studies and are able to utilize a range of communication channels.
- Learn to recognize and utilize reflection, problem solving skills and mediacritical thinking as part of their professional growth.
- Know how to interact respectfully, demonstrating understanding of and appreciation for diversity.

Content

- study skills: self-management, motivation, engagement, command of study methods, self-leadership, group work, listening skills, regulation of emotions
- Digikey 2 ECTS (incl. information retrieval and library services)
- the pedagogical and ethical principles of Humak (non-discrimination, accessibility, degree regulations, cheating, plagiarism) Student’s Guide, instructions for written assignments,Libguides
- media literacy

Location and time

Studies are carried out independently according to your own schedule during the first autumn semester.

Teaching methods

Self-paced online course in Hoodle platform. The course is connected to the orientation weeks in the start of the studies.

The scope of the course is 5 credits, which corresponds to approximately 135 hours of work.

Tasks are automatically assessed.
Peer feedback is used in the course.
The course assignments can be used as a basis for coaching discussions with the HOPS coach.

Opiskelija osallistuu aktiivisesti opintojaksoon.
Opiskelijan tulee tehdä hyväksytysti opintojakson tehtävät, joiden perusteella todentuvat opintojakson tavoitteiden saavuttaminen:
Opiskelija
- osaa arvioida osaamistaan suhteessa korkeakoulutasoisiin opiskeluvalmiuksiin
- kykenee itsensä johtamiseen, itseohjautuvuuteen sekä vastuun ottamiseen opinnoistaan ja toiminnastaan
- osaa opiskeluun liittyviä digitaitoja ja kykenet käyttämään erilaisia viestintäkanavia
- oppii tunnistamaan ja hyödyntämään reflektointia, ongelmanratkaisutaitoja ja mediakriittistä ajattelua osana ammattilaiseksi kasvua
- osaa toimia erilaisissa vuorovaikutustilanteissa toisia kunnioittaen sekä moninaisuutta ymmärtäen ja arvostaen.

Hyväksytty suoritus edellyttää opintojakson opetukseen osallistumista ja kaikkien tehtävien suorittamista vähintään 40%:sti.
