The course will be held both in Hoodle (Humak's Moodle learning environment) and in online webinars (the Zoom link for the webinars will be provided approximately 2 weeks before the first webinar on the course's Hoodle page

Materials

The details will be finalized once the implementation plan for the course is completed. More detailed information about the materials will be provided in the course's Hoodle environment.

Teaching methods

The course utilizes the following teaching methods: collaborative learning, peer learning, educational discussion, problem-based learning, case-based learning, and reflective moments in small groups.

Students will study through independent work, in small groups, and in interactive webinars.

Students are expected to participate in the webinars. The lecture parts of the webinars will be recorded.

Exam schedules

Exams for the course can be attempted up to three times during their validity period. Three attempts are equivalent to one regular attempt and two retakes, meaning retake opportunities are included in the course. There is no need to inform the supervising lecturer separately about utilizing retake opportunities.

Student workload

The course is worth 5 ECTS, which corresponds to 135 hours of student work.

Satisfactory (1)
The student is familiar with the methods of research-based development work, but only superficially. Their ability to apply methods to various development tasks is deficient, and the student is capable of planning and implementing research-based development work only in a limited manner. The utilization of qualitative and quantitative methods, participatory and other methods as support for research-based development work is lacking in them. There are deficiencies in the consistency of the planning of research-based development work.

Satisfactory (2)
The student is familiar with various methods of research-based development work, but not very comprehensively. They are able to apply methods appropriately in some situations, but their overall understanding is lacking. The utilization of qualitative and quantitative methods, participatory and other methods is insufficient for them. The planning of research-based development work has been
carried out meeting basic requirements, but the entirety remains superficial.

Good (3)
The student knows the methods of research-based development work well and is able to apply them appropriately to various development tasks. They are capable of planning and implementing researchbased development work independently, although there are still areas for improvement. They know
how to utilize qualitative and quantitative methods, participatory and other methods as support for research-based development work appropriately. In the planning of the implementation of research-based development work, they demonstrate understanding and the ability to apply what they have
learned in practice.

Good (4)
The student has an excellent command of the methods of research-based development work. They are able to apply these methods in a versatile and insightful manner in various development tasks. In the
planning and implementation of research-based development work, they show deep understanding and independent reflection. They know how to utilize qualitative and quantitative methods, participatory and other methods, as well as artificial intelligence as support for research-based development work critically, innovatively, and appropriately.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

Excellent (5)
The student excellently masters the methods of research-based development work. They apply methods very appropriately and innovatively in all development tasks, demonstrating commendable ability for independent problem-solving and critical thinking. When utilizing qualitative and quantitative methods, participatory and other methods, as well as artificial intelligence, they show deep understanding and the ability to creatively combine different methods. In the planning of research-based development work, they exhibit independent thinking, analytical skills, and the ability to generate new knowledge and innovative solutions.

Evaluation Criteria
• The course is graded on a scale of 0–5.
• The evaluation is based on the learning objectives of the course.

Inadequate (0)
The student has not submitted all their assignments, they have not followed the instructions for the assignments, or the content of the assignments has not been sufficient to reach the lowest grade.

Qualifications

It is recommended that the student has completed the course Approaches of research-based Development (KAOP1) before this course (KAOP2).
